In East Baton Rouge Parish, public school students have access to different levels of health care depending on which school they attend. Health Centers in Schools works with teachers and school staff to help students stay healthy and be ready to learn.

At 11 EBR schools, HCS manages school-based health centers, which are similar to a physician's office. These clinics also have a social worker to help students with issues like ADHD, anxiety or just everyday school worries. Health centers' staff work with the school staff while closely observing FERPA and HIPAA guidelines. Students must have parental consent to be seen at the school's health center.

All other schools that don't have health centers have a school nurse on site either full-time or part-time, depending on the school. School nurses can help with minor health issues and refer students for more extensive care. School nurses are readily available for any emergencies that occur on campus.

Contact your school's office for more information or contact HCS at (225) 343-9505.
