Manager, Mental Health Programs

A licensed clinical social worker and a board approved clinical supervisor, Tara Franklin joined Health Centers in Schools in 2002. As manager of Mental Health Programs, Ms. Franklin is responsible for supervising the mental health staff at 10 school-based health centers and provides social work services at Prescott Middle School. In addition to rendering individual psychotherapy, she provides group and family counseling.

Ms. Franklin’s professional experience has been primarily with children and adolescents, specializing in emotional and behavioral health. Having previously worked in special education and as a behavioral specialist, she is passionate about health education, especially violence, pregnancy and disease prevention. A member of the Louisiana Assembly of School-Based Health Care, she also volunteers on various community boards and is involved in her church as a women's ministry leader.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree in social work with a minor in criminal science from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, Ms. Franklin continued her studies and received her master’s degree in social work from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, also in Huntsville. In the future she would like to serve as an advocate for the advancement of racial and social equality.
