Sandra Adams

(2010), consultant

Sandra C. Adams joined the Board of Health Centers in Schools in 2010. Ms. Adams is a consultant for early childhood issues and volunteers with local nonprofits that serve children. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Louisiana Maternal and Child Health Coalition from its inception in 1990 until her retirement in 2009. The Coalition is a non-profit organization advocating improvement of health care for pregnant women and children. Ms. Adams was also a registered lobbyist at the Louisiana Legislature and worked on a variety of issues including prenatal and well-child care, adolescent pregnancy, Medicaid, and comprehensive school health. Concurrently, she served as the Executive Director of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and managed the LAAAP Foundation and the LA Perinatal/MCH Foundation.

Throughout her career, Ms Adams has been shaped by a diverse combination of business, government and non-profit experience from coast to coast. First working for the federal government in Washington, DC and New York, Ms. Adams moved to the private sector, where she worked as a human resources officer at Bankers Trust Company on Wall Street and as a financial analyst at Xerox in Los Angeles. Returning to government, she managed grants for the City of Baton Rouge, worked at the local Council on Aging, created the Capital Area Agency on Aging, and served a four year term as Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs.

Holding a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Maryland, Ms. Adams has an extensive list of volunteer accomplishments including being a member and past chair of the Board of Trustees, Woman’s Health Foundation/Woman’s Hospital, a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Area United Way and Chair of the Community Partnership Division (Allocation Process). She was also a member of the Board and Executive Committee for the Council for a Better Louisiana and is a past chair of the LSU School of Social Work Board of Advisors. Other volunteer posts are past president of WRKF, Public Radio, founder and first president of Louisiana Senior Olympics, and senior warden for Trinity Episcopal Church of Baton Rouge.

Father Richard Andrus

Effective July 1, 2013, Father Richard Andrus, SVD is serving as pastor of St. Paul the Apostle. Father Andrus joined us with many years of experience working in African American communities. From 1980-1982, he served in St. Augustine Church in New Orleans, being ordained in 1983. From 1982-1987, he served as pastor at St. Elizabeth in Chicago, Illinois. From 1987-2000, Father Rick pastored St. Nicholas in St. Louis, Missouri. Returning to St. Elizabeth, he served the church from 2000-2013, pastoring a second church in Chicago, St. Anselms, from 1996-1999.

Barbara Anne Eaton

Barbara Anne is a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker One and has already been a big help to HCS—she is currently a volunteer on the Program & Development Committee for the Board and chaired the Summer Open House fundraiser for Health Centers in Schools at her mother’s home in 2010. Some of her accomplishments are:

Johnnie Hunt, DDS

Johnnie Hunt is a pediatric dentist, Dr. Hunt has exemplified herself as a leader in her association. She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Louisiana Dental Association (LDA), and the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association (GBRDA). She served as parliamentarian of the GBRDA from 2003-2006 and took over as the components’ membership chair in 2005. In 2011, she became the chair of the state Council on Membership and Dental Practice. She has also served on the LDA’s Council on Communications and chaired the GBRDA’s Give Kids A Smile Day events, working to find dental volunteers to provide sealants and exams to over 1,000 children each year in the Baton Rouge community.

Dr. Hunt is also Board Certified in pediatric dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In 2010, she was asked to serve on the LA Department of Health and Hospitals Medical Care Advisory Committee. Dr. Hunt is married to Baton Rouge endodontist Dr. Michael Bond and they have three children, Blakeley, Ryder and Arlie.

Aaron Jarrett

From Capital One Bank, Aaron Jarrett is assistant vice president of commercial lending since December 2011. Previously Aaron was vice president of finance at Dow Louisiana Federal Credit Union from 2010 to 2011, and from 2006 to 2010 he worked for PWC. Aaron earned an MBA in internal audit and corporate finance from LSU Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business.

Laurie Kadair is owner of the Law Office of Laurie Kadair, LLC. Because Ms. Kadair enjoys working one-on-one with her client to design effective and creative solutions, she practices mostly in the areas of estate planning, successions and small business advising.

A native of Baton Rouge, Ms. Redman attended St. Joseph’s Academy and Louisiana State University. She earned her bachelor of science in Finance from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and then went on to study at the University of Tulsa, College of Law. After being admitted to practice law in Oklahoma in 1992, she practiced there and co-owned an event planning and incentive travel business.

Ms. Redman returned to Baton Rouge in 2003 and was admitted to practice law in Louisiana the same year. A member of the American Bar Association Section on Real Property Probate and Trust and the General Practice Solo Division, she also serves on the editorial board for the ABA publications, GP Solo and SOLO Newsletter. Ms. Redman is also a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. She is a dedicated CASA volunteer and the Vice President of the Capital Area Network.

Paul E. Kirk joined the board of Health Centers in Schools in 2010. Mr. Kirk joined the staff of Woman’s Hospital in March 2002, as Director of Information Systems, and was promoted to Vice President of Information Systems in May 2005. He has administrative responsibility for the areas of Information Systems, Facilities Management, Telecommunications, Bio Med, and Department of Defense Initiative.

Prior to joining Woman’s Hospital, Mr. Kirk served as senior vice president of Information System and Support Service at United Companies Financial Corporation in Baton Rouge Louisiana from 1983 to 2001. He also served as president of United Communication Corporation a subsidiary of United Companies Financial Corporation from 1984 to 2001. Mr. Kirk is a member of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), CIO’s of Baton Rouge and Louisiana Chapter of HIMSS (LaHIMSS) where he servers on the board. He has served on the board of Family Services of Greater Baton Rouge and Intecom User’s Group Association.

Mr. Kirk received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Louisiana State University in 1982.He is a graduate of the 2007 class of Leadership Baton Rouge and 2009 class of Louisiana Leadership. He is assistant scout master with Troop 51 of the Boy Scouts and serves on the Parish Pastor Relations board with the Saint Francisville United Methodist Church.

Dr. Stephanie Mills serves as President and CEO of Franciscan Health & Wellness Services, a division of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, Inc. (FMOLHS), Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2007, Dr. Mills joined FMOLHS as the CIO/CMIO, later transitioning as the Vice President, Quality and Health Care Innovation, where she lead quality improvement, information technology and clinical transformation initiatives. She practiced pediatric emergency medicine and served as Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at FMOLHS subsidiary, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Mills is a 1991 Summa Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Physiology from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. She earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1995 from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, followed by the completion of residency training in pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. In 2005, she completed a Masters of Health Care Management from the Harvard University School of Public Health in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, she resides in Baton Rouge with her husband, Dr. Andrew McWhorter, and son, Ben.

Dr. Simpson is a pediatric and adolescent medicine board-certified physician and the chief of Adolescent Medicine at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center’s Pediatric Residency Program.

Monique Scott Spaulding

Monique Scott-Spaulding is a native of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in Microbiology. Her career commenced with General Health Systems as the Resource Pool Manager. After working at the hospital for ten years, she honed her management skills and decided to form a Jani-King Franchise. As an entrepreneur, Monique has lead the Baton Rouge Region in sales and service for the past 14 years. Jani-King is a commercial cleaning franchise which serves more than 80 cities in the United States and more than 35 countries around the world. She specializes in educational, healthcare, and industrial facilities. Jani-King was established in 1969 in Dallas, Texas and is a leader in the industry. We have been voted in the top 10 for franchising opportunities by Entrepreneur magazine for the last 15 years. As an entrepreneur she manages all administrative, sales, operations, and training for over 85 employees. She is one of 125 franchises in the region.

Monique is an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She currently serves as a member of the Finance Council and the Building Committee. She is a lector and an Eucharistic Minister. Her previous roles include serving as a volunteer Youth Director for ten years and as a member of the Pastoral Council for more than twelve years. She has served as an adult leader of the Diocesan Youth Board for three and a half years and currently serves as a member of the Office of Black Catholics Advisory Board.

Monique is an advocate for education and is involved in the community. She has served as a member and past president of the board for the St. Paul Adult Learning Center which assists students to attain their GED and employment in the community. Spaulding Charities A Family Foundation (SCAFF) was established by her late husband Michael Spaulding with a mission to eradicate poverty through education. Our focus is reading proficiency, financial literacy, health and nutrition awareness, and refining career paths. We strive to promote a cultural systemic change by creating a desire to improve the quality of life, health, and education. Our foundation has assisted over 200 clients since 2007.
